French Toast

Ingredients:
Serves 2
For custard:
2 each eggs
1/2 cup whole milk
1/4 cup heavy cream
2 Tablespoons granulated sugar
1/4 tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
bread of your choice, I used brioche but any non savory bread will work
Berry compote:
1 cup frozen or fresh mixed berries
3 Tablespoons granulated sugar
A wedge of lemon
- Combine all custard ingredients in a shallow dish, soak bread slices in it for at least 2 minutes. If using harder bread like sourdough or baguette let soak for 5-10 minutes 
- Cook soaked bread in a skillet with butter on low heat for 4-5 mins per side 
- Turn the heat up to medium and cook the bread till golden brown and crispy 
- To make compote combine mixed berries with sugar and lemon, cook on low heat until all sugar is dissolved, about 7 minutes 
- Serve the fresh toast with whipped cream ( if desired ) and compote
